Carry over PTO extended and business continuity

March 23, 2020

All Salm Partners,

Over the last couple weeks, we have continued to implement Good Manufacturing Practices to keep each other healthy. These include staying home when you are sick, staying home if someone in your residence has COVID-19 symptoms, washing your hands, and practicing social distancing in public and at work. This is our primary way of keeping each other safe and maintaining our ability to make safe, quality food for our consumers.

In order to strengthen our ability to operate through the COVID-19 situation, we will be moving some partners offsite temporarily. These partners will be working out of either their homes or Hager Road, depending on their job function. We analyzed our organization and picked partners to go offsite that:

  • could perform multiple roles and substitute if a partner needs to quarantine at home

- OR -

  • have functions that can be performed offsite

I want to stress that this is not “non-essential people may go home”. This is a carefully thought-out plan to move key partners out of Woodrow to serve as our strategic reserve. They are expected to follow social distancing in their private lives, so that they are ready when called upon. Not having them day-to-day at Woodrow will surely cause some inconvenience, but the extra security this provides will be worth it. A list of these partners will be posted tomorrow outside of the HR office so that you know where they are and how to contact them. We will evaluate this plan weekly to ensure operational excellence at Woodrow.

Finally, we know that some of you have had to cancel vacations due to the disruption COVID-19 has caused. We don’t want you to lose time off due to COVID-19, so we are postponing the expiration of carried over paid time off (PTO). Carried over PTO will no longer expire at the end of March, and instead will be good through December 31, 2020.

Thanks for being a partner,
Keith M. Lindsey
